Stephen Fry and George Osborne jump on open source bandwagon

Looks like the idea of using open source is gaining momentum once
again. Earlier this week, the Conservative Party chucked its hat into
the ring with a promise to make all future government IT projects
smaller and based on Open Source Software.

think that whoever gets into power will be looking for more
intelligent ways of meeting IT challenges, but it’s good to see things
moving in such a positive direction.

If politics isn’t your thing, support for our approach also comes from
TV personality “Dancer, couturier, neo-plasticist and rapper” Stephen
Fry, who reacted on his blog  to this in his inimitable style with “Lo, our sheep
that was lost is now found’. This is good news. Aside from anything
else the money that could be saved in government: schools, hospitals,
civil service, defence, by choosing open source and free operating
systems and software. It’s wave that’s rolling over Europe and America
and it’s only right that we in Britain should ride that wave too.”
Quite right too!
