June’s new site, launched in July

A colleague pointed this out to me today, a new site ‘Politics and the City’, ostensibly run by television presenter June Sarpong. It’s designed to engage women more in the political process by presenting a regular mix of political news and celebrity gossip. It will also feature a range of guest bloggers, celebrities in the main, and the bulk of the main content at the moment seems to be a collation from various news feeds (and possibly other bloggers too).

An odd approach, the navigation’s a bit strange and if you have a poke around it, you can see bits of work in progress here and there that suggest more functionality will be being added soon. The contact information is just a gmail email address too, which is more usual with blogs with no budget, and makes you wonder why they haven’t set one up with their domain name.

It seems to have been well received so far though, the first blog post has had tons of comments, universally and gushingly supportive, although subsequent posts have had far fewer, which is unusual.

So, an interesting concept, but overall an unusual one with slightly odd navigation. WIll have to see how it gets along i suppose.
