Yes, it’s a lengthy title but if I’d abbreviated it you wouldn’t know that we’d done a site for a Parliamentary organisation, would you?

The mission of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association ‘is to promote the advancement of parliamentary democracy by enhancing knowledge and understanding of democratic governance’. Our client, the UK Branch of the Association, needed a new site to better communicate its function and work; their old site had proven a nightmare for them to manage and for visitors to navigate (and it wasn’t the prettiest).
They commissioned us to design and deliver a new site for them and the tidy, purple results can now be seen at http://www.cpaukbranch.org
The main points were:
- to make the site easier for CPA UK staff to manage and update;
- to make the site easier for visitors to find, explore and ‘get to the good stuff’.
One bonus feature that we were pleased to be able to incorporate was a simple comment system, enabling the site to serve as a place for some feedback and transparent, two-way communication, rather than just a ‘read this’ static site. CPA UK Branch has a great potential network/community of interest in the Commonwealth Parliamentarians and various delegates they work with and it’s hoped that the site might provide a very simple way to help sustain this community’s communication.
Those of you interested in such things might like to know that the site is built in WordPress (an open-source, primarily-blogging-but-also-content-management system that we think is great), making the commenting (and a few other handy features like RSS feeds, Analytics etc) dead easy.
